Products are available in bags and/or bulk. Please note that bulk products are sold by the cubic yard, although half-yard quantities are also available upon request. This calculator lists various mulches, soils and gravels, but Merrifield Garden Center stocks many more products than those listed here. All products can be picked up or delivered. *Area Calculations
Listed below are formulas for determining the square footage for different shaped areas*. If the area you wish to cover has an odd shape not listed below, do your best to break the area up into squares, triangles or circles. Or if you are interested in having Merrifield Garden Center perform the work for you, you will not need to measure the area. One of our professional estimators will visit your home and take the proper measurements.
Square or Rectangle:
Length x Width
Example: length of 20’ x width of 20’ = 400 square feet
Circle:
(πr2) 3.1416 x the square of the radius
Example: Diameter of 12’ means a radius of 6’ x 6 x 3.1416 = 113.1 square feet
Triangle:
Half the base x height
Examples:
1. 10' x 20' = 200 square feet
2. 10' x 2 1/2' = 25 square feet
3. 10' x 8' = 80 square feet
4. 6' x 18' = 108 square feet
