Steppers and Treads

Steppers

Typically, the materials that are commonly referred to as steppers are one of two types of products. The first are field stones, the most popular type of steppers. Harvested in Pennsylvania and other parts of the country, field stones are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes.

The other type of steppers are stones that have been quarried from beneath the earth's surface and are either sawn or naturally separated into flatter pieces, making them terrific options for various landscaping projects. No matter which stepper you choose, they're always a great choice.

Treads

We also carry treads, which are larger pieces of cut flagstone that have been harvested from the earth. Treads are typically used to form steps in patios, walkways and entryways, where a uniform surface is sought. But treads are also used for wall caps and countertops for outdoor kitchens.

Unlike steppers, treads are typically cut into slabs that are 2" thick with varying lengths and widths. Most of the treads that we stock come in the handsome "Blue-Blue" color of flagstone, but other color options are available.
