Meet our talented team
Debbie Warhurst Capp
Debbie "grew up" at Merrifield Garden Center as the daughter of one of the founding families. She works with the advertising and promotional aspects of the company, and has served as the host of Merrifield’s Gardening Advisor since its launch in 1990. Debbie lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and two children, who also work at Merrifield. She enjoys singing and the colorful aspects of gardening and outdoor living.
David Yost
A highly respected speaker, Virginia Certified Horticulturist and Master Gardener, David joined the Merrifield Garden Center team in 1996. He has worked in the nursery industry for over 25 years, after earning a degree in Horticulture with a specialization in Landscape Design at Virginia Tech. David is a former Fairfax County Extension Agent and a past President and Vice President of the Fairfax County Master Gardeners Association, where he currently serves as their Training Coordinator. He lives in Northern Virginia, and enjoys gardening, photography and biking.
Peg Bier
Peg is a multi-talented gardener, designer and Virginia Certified Horticulturist who has been a part of the Merrifield Garden Center family for 34 years. Specializing in annuals, perennials and container gardening, Peg is well-known in the Washington D.C. area for her gardening expertise as well as floral and landscape design. Her extensive Northern Virginia garden showcases her passion and is an oasis that she enjoys with her husband, large extended family and friends. Peg has been featured in many horticulture articles and on television, both in the Washington D.C. market and on HGTV.
