Monochrome Container for Sun
This container looks beautiful in shades of purple and can easily be altered using the same plants in different shades to be pink, red, orange or white. The plants in this container will thrive in 6 to 8 hours of direct sun daily.
When planting a container, select one or more plants that fit these categories to make sure you have a well balanced design. The number of plants you choose depends on the size of the container. If there is only room for one of each, that is fine.

Thrill
Salvia: This plant comes in an annual and perennial form in a wide array of colors. We’ve selected lavender here to complete our look with a light shade of purple. Annual varieties grow as perennials in warmer regions, but do not usually last through the winter in our region. Annual varieties offer a good deal of flexibility since you can swap them out of your containers for cool season plants at the end of the summer. Select the color that you enjoy the most for your container!
Fill
Coral Bells: This perennial plant is grown for its foliage, which comes in many shades of red, orange, green and purple. We’ve selected a nice purple cultivar here that brings the color theme into the foliage for the container.
Dusty Miller: Not a purple plant, but it’s gray-silver foliage compliments the cool tones of the other flowers nicely, and adds some great texture to the container. This plant would also look great with a white color scheme, or you could sub it for another foliage plant, or even another blooming plant. Honeysuckle or marigold might look good with a container in shades of orange or red, or perhaps geranium or coleus. There are many options!
Spill
Petunia: This well known annual comes in many colors. The blooms we’ve chosen for our trailing plant come 2 rich shades of purple.
