Landscape fabric serves as a separation barrier between products and the soil. It can help to  control erosion and reduce weed production. Secure your landscape fabric by using staples or sod pins every 10’ or so. You can lay landscape fabric anywhere in the garden and cover it with mulch to keep your area looking attractive and aesthetically pleasing.

We stock landscape fabric in seven different sizes: 3’ by 25’, 3’ by 50’, 3’ by 100’, 6’ wide per foot, 6’ by 360’, 12’ wide per foot, and 12’ by 360’.

We can deliver the landscape fabric to your location. In addition to delivery, we can also provide installation services. If you’re interested in having our team install your landscape fabric, please book a landscape appointment and select Garden Cleanup, Mulch and Sod as the appointment type.

To use landscape fabric to control weeds in your plant beds, follow these instructions:

  • Remove all vegetation and make sure the area is flat where you wish to apply the fabric.
  • Use a garden hoe or shovel to dig up any grass and weeds, making sure that the roots are pulled up so that no unwanted vegetation will grow underneath the fabric.
  • Use a rake to dispose of any weeds, twigs, stones and other debris to make the area smooth and flat.
  • Cut the appropriate amount of fabric for the given area and lay it down like a bedsheet. If your area requires more than one row of fabric, we suggest overlapping the pieces by at least 6”.
  • Take your landscape staples and use a hammer to secure them every 10 feet or so. This will help the fabric from windy weather conditions.
  • If you wish to add plants in the area covered by the fabric, cut an x-shape into the fabric as wide as your plant’s root ball and dig a hole where you wish to place the plant.

Cover your landscape fabric with mulch, stone, pine needles or wood chips to make it look attractive and help keep the fabric in place year after year.

What is landscape fabric?

Landscape fabric is a geotextile material used to create a barrier that helps keep underlying soil from mixing with the decorative stone or gravel above.

Does landscape fabric stop weeds?

Landscape fabric helps reduce weed growth but does not eliminate all weeds. Weeds can still grow above the fabric if there’s a mulch or stone cover.
