How to calculate the square footage of an area

Mortar sand is made from crushed rock, often a blend of limestone, quartz, or granite. It is cleaned, screened, and washed to remove impurities and ensure consistent particle size. It can be mixed with cement and water to make mortar to use in hardscape projects. It is finer than builder’s sand.

We stock mortar sand in bulk by cubic yards

We can deliver a maximum of 4 cubic yards on one truck to your location. One yard of mortar sand is 2,500 pounds. The maximum amount of weight we can fit on one truck is 12,500 lbs. If you need more than 4 cubic yards of mortar sand, it will require more truck(s) and additional delivery fee(s).

In addition to delivery, we can also provide installation services. If you’re interested in having our team install your sand, please book a landscape appointment and select Draining & Grading Issues as the appointment type. If you are interested in having our landscape design team build out a patio, walkway, driveway or other hard surface, please book a Full Service landscape design appointment

What's the difference between mortar sand and builder’s sand?

Mortar sand is finer and better suited for mixing with Portland cement. Builder’s sand is grittier and contains larger particle components.

What is the best product to use when laying a wet-laid patio or walkway?

Mortar sand mixed with Portland cement will create a solid setting bed for your patio or walkway. Once your stone is set in place and dry, apply the mortar sand/Portland cement mix to the joints.
