Coast of Maine’s Stonington Blend Grower’s Mix is most commonly used as a transplanting soil. When transplanting seedlings into a container with Stonington Blend:

  • Ensure your container has drainage holes.
  • Fill the container with Stonington Blend Grower's Mix and moisten the soil with water. Avoid packing down the soil as this can affect drainage and damage the tender plant roots.
  • Scoop out a hole in the soil for each plant deep enough so the top of the rootball will end up about 1” below the lip of the pot. This will prevent the soil from running over when you water.
  • Place each seedling and backfill the soil around the plant roots, topping off the soil as needed for an even surface.
  • Water well once everything is planted.
